The Lyndon House Arts Center invites exhibition proposals. Review of proposals for future art exhibitions are reviewed twice annually. Due dates are September 20 and April 20 of every year.

The Lyndon House Arts Center is committed to providing quality exhibitions by local and regional artists, exhibits of works by local arts organizations, exchange exhibitions from other states and countries, invitational or juried exhibitions of local, regional/national/international artists, theme exhibitions focused on specific media/subjects/style, exhibits of historical/traditional works owned by area collectors, exhibitions of works by contemporary artists and occasionally packaged traveling exhibitions.

Exhibition Proposal Instructions:


To submit an exhibition proposal for consideration, please provide the following information:

1. Proposal Narrative and Proposed Exhibition Title (900 Words): Describe the proposed exhibition concept, including a possible title.  

2. Resumes and/or bios:
Include bio or resumes of the artists included in your proposal. Be sure to specify a primary organizer’s contact name, and include a telephone number and email address. Please include names, residences, and backgrounds of all exhibiting artists. If any of the artists have exhibited at LHAC in the past, please indicate the year(s) and exhibition(s).

3. All proposals must include a proposed educational component or programming. What does your proposal include? Examples are but not limited to: a gallery tour, artist demonstration, lecture program, youth art workshop, or community event. 

4. 20 images of proposed artwork: Please submit 20 images either in a jpeg format in in a pdf format. If digital images are not available, you may submit up to 20 images in photographic form no larger than 8” x 10” OR a publication that shows a relevant representation of your proposal. Include images from all the artists represented in your proposal.  Please do not expect the Lyndon House Arts Center to return your materials by mail or carrier. 

5. Exhibition checklist, detailing titles, dates, size and medium of works. Please include special installation requirements. Arts Center staff will install.

Operations Statement:

The Lyndon House Arts Center is operated by the Athens-Clarke County Department of Leisure Services as a center of artistic excellence for the benefit and cultural enrichment of youth and adults. Gallery exhibitions, festivals, workshops, art meetings, special events and art classes aim to provide area citizens with a positive experience in the visual arts, encouraging them to appreciate the arts and to develop their creative talents.

The Lyndon House Arts Center places importance on education and outreach, arts activities which reflect the values of integrity, quality, diversity and creativity held by the community. These values serve as a guide for the selection and exhibition of artwork for the galleries.

The Lyndon House Arts Center reserves the right to present in a controlled access area, or to deny exhibition of any material which may not be appropriate for all audiences. Children visiting the galleries must be accompanied and supervised by an adult for the safety of the artwork and for artwork content.
