HBCU Majorette Dance

The Course will train, educate, and motivate students in the Athens Community in the style of Majorette Dance, originating from Historical Black Colleges and Universities’ marching band auxiliary. Students will learn the styles of nearby colleges such as: Fort Valley State University, Spelman College, Albany State University, Alabama A&M University, and more. The course will use recorded Marching Band tunes and cadences to experience the rhythm, musicality, and sounds of a collegiate band. At the end of the quarter, the students will be Audition-ready on the high school and college level. Often seen performed by HBCU Marching Band Dance teams, this hip-hop and jazz-inspired Dance form is accessible to all dancers that seek a versatile dance background for careers such as: Commercial dance teams, hip hop dance troupes, music videos, and more.

Photos and video will be taken of students at the time of the recital.
