Community Tree Program Calendar

  1. Community Tree Council Monthly Meeting

    August 10, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM @ 2555 Lexington Road

    Regular meeting of the ACC Community Tree Council, a citizens advisiory board considering all tree related matters in the county. Arbor Day activities, a tree fair in the fall, review of ordinance related provisions for trees, oversight of a commemorative Trees for Tomorrow Program and educational initiatives are among the annual activities for the Community Tree Council.

  2. 34th Citizen Police Academy

    August 18, 6:30 PM - November 3, 9:30 PM @ Police East Precinct (Headquarters)

    Registration deadline is August 7. A 12-week course with classes one night a week (August 18 through November 3). Instruction includes career development/training, patrol functions, criminal investigation, communications/911, crime prevention, SRT, and other functions of the police department. Must attend 10 of the 12 classes to receive a Certificate of Achievement. Must complete an application (available on line), be 18 years of age, live or work in Athens-Clarke County, and pass a criminal background check.

    The KACCB board of directors meets monthly to discuss community beautification projects and events. The mission of KACCB is to educate and empower citizens and businesses with the resources to take action as environmental stewards of litter prevention, waste reduction, and beautification.
