The Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County is seeking qualified candidates to fill the following terms on important policy-making boards (click on link below to find out more about the board, authority, or commission):

• Two positions on the Airport Authority for a term of four years.
• Two positions on the Athens Downtown Development Authority for a term of two years. One must be a downtown property owner and the other a downtown business owner. Both must be active members of the Athens Downtown Council.
• Two positions on the Classic Center Authority for a term of four years.
• One position on the Department of Family and Children Services Board for a term of five years.
• Two positions on the Region 2 Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Addictive Diseases Regional Planning Board for a term of three years.
• Two positions on the Hearings Board for a term of five years.
  
• Two positions on the Historic Preservation Commission for a term of three years.
  
• Two positions on the Planning Commission for a term of five years.
  

All boards have eligible incumbents who may reapply. Applicants must be Athens-Clarke County residents and registered to vote in Athens-Clarke County. A separate application must be completed for each position. The deadline for receiving applications is Friday, May 16, 2008.

Applications and information regarding interviews can be obtained from the Clerk of Commission’s office in Room 204 of City Hall. Applications are also available online.

Completed forms may be delivered in person to City Hall Room 204 or mailed to: ACC Clerk of Commission, P.O. Box 1868, Athens GA 30603-1868.

The Mayor and Commission is tentatively scheduled to interview applicants on Wednesday, May 28 and Thursday, May 29 between 4:00-9:00 p.m. These will be the only dates and huors for interviews. After the deadline for receipt of applications, you will receive a letter assigning your interview time. If you will be out of town or otherwise unavailable on this date, let us know at the time you submit your application.

Appointments are tentatively scheduled to be made at the Mayor and Commission meeting of Tuesday, June 3. You will receive a letter from Mayor Davison following the date of this meeting.
