(Drug Abuse Resistance Education) – 706-613-3250
The D.A.R.E. program is for elementary
and middle school students taught by experienced and carefully selected
ACC Sheriff's Office certified deputies. The program presents
lessons on drug and gang awareness, as well as dealing with life problems
such as peer pressure, good and bad consequences and making good
decisions.

property, environmental areas, street and greenway dedications, as well

The ACC District Attorney's Office is responsible for prosecuting all
criminal offenses, felonies and misdemeanors, as well as certain civil
actions such as drug, gambling and bond forfeitures in the Superior Courts
of the Western Judicial Circuit. These prosecutions, both civil and criminal,
are generated primarily by the police agencies operating in and around
this jurisdiction.

Divorce records are maintained in the Clerk of Courts Office. If citizens
of Athens-Clarke County are planning to file for divorce, it is suggested
that they seek out an attorney for legal advice prior to contacting the
Clerk of Courts. The public is welcome to call the number listed here

Individuals selling items door-to-door must have a vending permit from the ACC Finance Department and display a vendor badge during sales. They may not sell in locations or neighborhoods posted with ‘No Solicitation’ signs. Violators may be reported to the ACC Police Department or to the ACC Community Protection Division.

This annual tradition celebrates the beginning of the holiday season with a parade and lighting of the community Christmas tree. The parade is held downtown on the first Thursday following Thanksgiving. It is run as a partnership between the Athens Downtown Development Authority and the ACC Leisure Services Department.
