A summertime tradition continues with the annual Star Spangled Classic, Thursday, July 4 at Bishop Park, presented by Athens First Bank & Trust. In addition to the fireworks, the event will include live music, games, food, inflatables and, back by popular demand, a Kids Patriotic Parade inside the park.

Children 10 and under are encouraged to decorate their bicycles, tricycles, wagons and strollers and bring to the park to join the Kids Patriotic Parade, sponsored by Kaiser Permanente. Participation is free but registration is required the day of the event. The first 100 entries will each receive a free cupcake.

The evening’s activities begin at 6:00 pm and culminate at 9:30 pm with a spectacular fireworks display. Tentative Schedule Includes:

6:00 p.m. – Vendors and Children Activities Open; Check-in for Kids Patriotic Parade starts

7:00 p.m. - Kids Patriotic Parade

7:30 p.m. - Music - Judah Swilley

8:30 p.m. - Music – Dixie Dawgs

9:30 p.m. - Fireworks

Citizens are reminded that Athens-Clarke County ordinances prohibit alcohol and smoking in public parks. Pets and grills are not allowed at this event due to safety concerns and the large crowd.
