Acknowledgments
Many thanks to the Honorable William J. Self, II, Judge, Probate Court of Bibb County, and the Honorable Marion Guess, Jr., Judge, Probate Court of DeKalb County, who have provided invaluable assistance and have graciously permitted the use of significant material which was initially written by them or under their direction. We have included appropriate attribution for each of these passages and have noted those which have been revised. We owe a huge debt to the vision and groundbreaking work of the Honorable Floyd E. Propst, former Judge of the Probate Court of Fulton County, for his arduous efforts, in cooperation with faculty and students of the Georgia Institute of Technology, to design and launch a Georgia Probate website, complete with Standard Forms online, which has served as a model for other courts in Georgia and the nation.
To Douglas T. Neumeister, who got us started and helped us to believe our conception of this site was within the realm of possibility, we express our heartfelt gratitude. To the current and former clerks of Probate Court, who assisted here and there in various ways, and who have consistently supported Judge Tate in this and other long-term projects above and beyond their normal workloads, we humbly acknowledge that it would not have been possible without their hard work and dedication. We wish in particular, to acknowledge the leadership of Joley Barber, who served as Chief Clerk for over 10 years; her work during the tenure of Judge Margaret P. Hartman and later with Judge Susan P. Tate laid a solid foundation for much of what has been accomplished in the last five years. Indeed, a significant portion of the information on this site was developed by or in conjunction with Ms. Barber.
Finally, Deanna Thomas, volunteer/law clerk/contractor/temporary clerk extraordinaire, has done the lion's share of technical work on this site (supplemented by the technological virtuosity of her father, Danny Thomas). Deanna has also contributed many substantive ideas of her own, most significantly the heir flowchart. We are utterly unable to thank her sufficiently, and will forever remain beholden to her for the spark of her imagination and the spunk of her determination to do this right, undeterred by the exacting specifications of Judge Tate.
