Statement: This project consists of renovations and additions to the
existing Athens Welcome Center (Church-Waddel-Brumby House) located
at the intersection of Thomas and Dougherty Streets. It will include the
construction of an appropriately designed stand-alone building addition
which will house; ADA accessible restrooms and information / video space
(providing interpretation of Athens and the Church-Waddel-Brumby House
Museum), administrative office and storage space, and re-working of
the existing grounds to provide additional parking and historically appropriate
garden landscaping. The existing house will have certain renovations such
as waterproofing and stabilization accomplished also.

PROJECT
CONCEPT:
- The Mission
of this project is to improve accessibility to this facility to all
members of the general public, thereby increasing the level of service
provided, and to preserve and accurately interpret the historic resources
of the Church-Waddel-Brumby House.
- Therefore,
the projects funding priorities are envisioned to be as follows:
- a)
Design Services to include existing conditions / historical
preservation report, creation of necessary design/construction documents
for building addition / renovation, and parking, hardscape, and
landscape
- b)
Existing Facility Improvements to include, but not be limited
to, necessary waterproofing and stabilization of the basement and
exterior
- c)
Facility Addition to include construction of a stand-alone
building addition to house ADA accessible restrooms, interpretive
/ video room, administrative office space, and storage space »
