Statement: This
project consists of rehabilitation, repairs and maintenance of bridges and
guardrails throughout Athens-Clarke County. it will include but not be limited
to cleaning, painting, pile repairs/replacement, pavement removal/replacement,
water proofing, guardrail upgrade/repair. These deficiencies are identified
by the Georgia Department of Transportation in their Bi-Annual Bridge Report.
This project is a next installment of the SPLOST IV Program.

PROJECT CONCEPT:
- This project
is considered an REOCURRING Project which is envisioned to be
appropriated funds on an Annual basis.
- This project
is envisioned to increase the number of bridges and their safety guardrails
that are improved and brought up to current Georgia Department of
Transportation standards annually through the combined utilization
of SPLOST 2000 funds and other funding sources.
- This project
is a continuation from the SPLOST IV Program.
- Bridge
and guardrail projects are identified as needed and priorities are established
and budgeted in accordance with the Bi-Annual Bridge Report generated
by the Georgia Department of Transportation.
- The Project’s
Objective is envisioned to increase the number of bridges in
Athens-Clarke County meeting the National Bridge Inspection Standards.
Whether or not Right-of-way acquisition is necessary will be determined
by each bridge’s specific needs.
