PROJECT #20: Storm Drainage Improvement Program

REFERENDUM STATEMENT: - The project will provide for improvements to existing publicly owned storm drainage systems throughout Athens-Clarke County. Currently, SPLOST IV funds are being utilized to develop the Storm Water Management Program and begin construction on two pilot projects. These funds will continue the improvements required throughout Athens-Clarke County utilizing the principles identified within the Storm Water Management Program. Specific projects will be prioritized by the Mayor and Commission. This project is a next installment of the SPLOST IV program

  • Annual Operating Expense: $ 0

Current Status:

  • Phase I: Brooklyn Creek Pilot Project: Plaza Street Detention - Project is Complete
  • Phase II: Brooklyn Creek Pilot Project: Baxter Street Drainage Improvements -Project is Complete
  • Phase III: Lumpkin Street Drainage Improvements: Phase V- Construction

Action Since Last Report: See SPLOST IV, Project #1.

  • Phase II – Baxter Street Drainage:
    • Sub-project is complete.
  • Phase III - Lumpkin Street Drainage Improvements:
    •  Sub-project is complete.
  • Phase IV - Lumpkin Street Drainage Improvements Phase II:
    • Bids were received and the apparent low bidder was ER Snell, however, bids were over the estimated budget amount. A construction award is scheduled for March 23, 2006 (Special Called Session).
    • A Notice to Proceed is expected to be issued April 25, 2006
