Statement: This
project consists of the design and construction and/or improvements of such
items as: sidewalk, access ramps, pedestrian signals and crossings, school
zone crossings, and general pedestrian improvements. Specific projects will
be developed on a yearly basis and prioritized utilizing a ranking system.

PROJECT CONCEPT:
- This project
is considered an REOCURRING Project, which is envisioned to be
appropriated funds on an Annual basis.
- This project
is envisioned to expand and/or improve the existing sidewalk system
throughout Athens-Clarke County through the combined utilization of
SPLOST 2000 funds, and other available funding sources.
- Sidewalk
improvement sub-projects are identified, prioritized and budgeted in
accordance with the Mayor and Commission adopted Sidewalk Improvement
Program.
- The Project’s
Objective is to increase the number of linear feet of sidewalks
constructed and/or improved throughout Athens-Clarke County.
- Right-of-way
and easement acquisitions will be evaluated and accomplished on a specific
sub-project basis.
