PROJECT #28: East Athens Community Park (Phase 2)

REFERENDUM STATEMENT: - This project funds the next phase of facilities to be designed and constructed at the East Athens Community Park. The park itself is a combination of both active (baseball, soccer) and passive (lake and nature trails) recreational facilities that will serve the East Athens Community. This project is a next installment of SPLOST IV Project #13.

Budget: $ 542,000 Fixed
Annual Operating Expense: $ 50,500

Current Status: Phase V - Construction (Package 1 - Site Infrastructure & Package 2 - Concessions Bldg. / Sports Amenities and Lighting)

The opening dedication of East Athens Community Park will be Saturday, May 6, from Noon - 2:00 p.m. at 216 Trail Creek Street

Action Since Last Report:

Package 1 – Infrastructure (Project is substantially complete)
- Final clean up and acquisition of field equipment such as goals, trash cans, and bleachers is underway.
Package 2.1 - Concessions Bldg. (Project is Complete)
Package 2.2 – Sports Amenities and Lighting (Sub-project is substantially complete)
- A Substantial Completion inspection has occurred. Contractor is correcting deficiencies.
Package 2.3 – Ball Barrier Netting System / Fencing / Backstops
- Project is complete.
