PROJECT 10 - JAIL INFIRMARY Campaign Statement: Build an infirmary in accordance with Federal Court Order to provide medical care for the inmates of the Athens-Clarke County Jail. Project Location: Clarke County Jail, 3015 Lexington Road, Athens, Georgia 30605. Original Project Budget: $ 1,200,000 Additional Outside Funding: $ 472,700 General Fund Revised Project Budget: $1,672,700 Operating Budget Impact: $106,000/Year PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Jail Infirmary Project consist of construction of a one story, 6,421 square foot annex and a 325 square foot renovation to the existing jail. BUILDING PROGRAM: Clinic: Inmate holding cell, waiting rm., 2 - exam rms. emergency triage rm., dental exam rm., mental health service office, medical laboratory, pharmacy, supply rm., nurse station, staff toilet, medical records / copy rm., physicians office, administrative office, soiled linen / utility rm., bio-hazard storage rm., janitor rm., and an emergency ambulance entrance / canopy. Infirmary: 4 - double occupancy general-purpose patient rms. ( 2 - patient rms. will be add alternates for possible total of 6), 2 - isolation rms. with negative pressure mechanical systems, bio-hazard storage rm., soiled linen / utility rm., laundry rm., clean linen storage rm., 2 - patient showers, pantry, medical supply rm., nurses station, staff toilet, and mechanical and electrical rms. SET ONE AND SET TWO DESCRIPTION: The project will be bid as one package. The new facility will comprise of two main areas; Clinic and Infirmary, (See attached plans and elevations and site plan for further information ). Both the Clinic and the Infirmary will be constructed of pre-manufactured steel cells. This building technique will provide expandability in the future, by allowing new steel cells to be added to the facility without major re-design to the existing facility. The Fixtures, Furniture and Equipment will be bid separately by the Athens-Clarke County Purchasing Department.
