Campaign Statement: Acquire and begin appropriate development of the wetlands and bottom land tracts along the North Oconee River which will provide a variety of outdoor recreational and educational opportunities, and safe alternative transportation including pedestrian and bicycle paths.

Project Location: Riverfront properties along the North Oconee River Corridor within the boundaries of Athens-Clarke County Urban Section.

Original Project Budget: $ 1,977,000

Additional Outside Funding: $ 693,600 (TEA Funds)

Revised Project Budget: $2,670,600

Operating Budget Impact: $30,000.00/Year

PROJECT CONCEPT: The scope of this Phase I Construction package consist of the following:

1. A poured concrete multi-use bicycle/pedestrian pathway, which will provide a natural experience that will be enjoyed by many along the North Oconee River.
2. Project is to be divided into a Division 1A and a Division 1B where Division 1A's termini is from the intersection of East Broad Street and Willow Street to Privately Owned Property adjacent to the perimeter (property and/or right-of-way along this Division is currently owned by ACC) and Division 1B's termini being from the end of Division 1A to Sandy Creek Drive (property and/or necessary easements currently are owned by private individuals and will require acquisition by ACC). Both Divisions will be bid as one Bid Package and Division 1A will begin construction immediately after award of contract and Divsion 1B will begin after land acquisition is completed.
