| PROJECT 22 - BARNETT SHOALS ROAD WIDENING AND DRAINAGE NOTE: See Also SPLOST 2000 Project #23: Local Road Improvements Projects Campaign Statement: Widening of Barnett Shoals from Greencrest Drive to College Station Road from a four-lane to a five-lane, installing an extensive storm drainage system, and adding sidewalks on both sides. Project Location: Barnett Shoals Road from Greencrest Drive to College Station Road. Original Project Budget: $ 1,200,000 Additional SPLOST Revenues & Earned Interest Allocated: $1,716,533 Additional Outside Funding: $0 Additional Funding: $10,000 Revised Project Budget: $2,926,533 Operating Budget Impact: None REVISED GENERAL PROJECT CONCEPT: The scope of this project is to improve drainage, improve traffic operations and capacity, and increase vehicular, bus, bike and pedestrian safety through geometrical improvements and implementation of traffic management techniques. The roadway portion of this project shall be on Gaines School Road from Hilsman Middle School to the future ACC Fire Station No. 7 (near the intersection of Clarke Drive and Barnett Shoals Road), a distance of approximately 1.2 miles. This project will also evaluate the possible implementation of parallel access roads and inter-parcel connectivity. This project also includes a drainage system to manage the stormwater runoff in this area. SPLOST funding will be expended in the following priorities: 1.) Detail evaluation of improvement alternatives; 2) Design of roadway and drainage improvements; 3.) Acquisition of required right of way; 3) Construction of these improvements.
