Art Classes

The Lyndon House Arts Center offers a diverse selection of art classes for youth, from age 4 and up, and adults with any level of experience. Make art a part of your week, every week!

We are very excited to be hosting two amazing creative artists working in their field of puppetry, video & TV and music in our Summer Art Program for Youth, Live-Action Puppets and Video, June 25 - 29On Monday morning, June 25, Phil Jasen is our resident artist. In the afternoon, Jake Krakovsky will work with the teens.

Through shadow puppetry Phil has toured the southeast bringing a unique performance with a live tango band and multiple visual artists operating a large “moving panorama” (or “crankie”) and shadow puppets.  This shadow show- “Lupita's Revenge”, has performed at venues such as Atlanta, Georgia's The High Museum and Chattanooga, Tennessee's Barking Legs' Theater.  The production, which he serves as artistic director of, is currently developing a tour of the northeast United States for late 2018.

Alongside his puppetry and personal fine art, Phil has 10 years of education experience- working as an instructor in both the Foundations and Drawing & Painting program at the University of Georgia's Lamar Dodd School of Art.  In addition to teaching college students- he works with younger groups through a comic book camp and hosting several “crankie” and/or puppetry workshops.

Jake Krakovsky has worked as an actor, writer, director, puppeteer, clown and teaching artist. Recent credits include Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (Center for Puppetry Arts), Dispossessed (Essential Theater) and Born for This: The BeBe Winans Story (Alliance Theatre). Jake brings firsthand experience presenting the mechanics and logistics about operating puppets and engaging in performance.
