The Flexible Spending Account (FSA) benefit is a great way to reduce your taxable income by diverting pre-tax money into a medical spending account. A debit card makes it even easier to pay for your eligible health-related, out-of-pocket expenses. The FSA is a pre-tax deduction, which can be used to reimburse oneself for eligible, out-of-pocket health care expenses. The purpose of the FSA is to cover most out-of-pocket expenses not covered under your medical, dental, or vision plan. Eligible expenses, such as dental, medical, vision, prescriptions, and over-the-counter medications, must be incurred between July 1 through June 30 of the fiscal plan year in order to be considered a qualified FSA expense.
You can also access your FSA information by logging into the BCBS member website. The BCBS site allows you to view your FSA information as well review your health and pharmacy claims for the previous two years which can assist you in deciding how much to contribute to your FSA. Visit www.bcbsga.com to use or setup login and password for your BCBS account to access FSA account information.
IMPORTANT NOTE: You may not enroll in the FSA benefit if you enroll in a CHS/HSA plan.
