Athens-Clarke County Boards, Authorities, and Commissions (BACs)
Several times during the year, the Mayor and Commission of the Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County (ACCGov) seeks candidates for volunteer, unpaid, major policy boards. Citizen volunteers provide an additional perspective for staff and elected officials.
Vacancies are announced through various means, including: the ACCGOV website; local publications; social media; a media release; and ACTV. Residents interested in openings can subscribe to media releases, revisit this website, or follow @accgov on social media.
Please refer to the Advisory Committee Roles and Expectations booklet for more detailed information about the responsibilities involved when a resident is appointed to a BAC.
Below is a list of boards, authorities, and/or commissions (BACs), most of which have appointments made by the Mayor and Commission, either through interview or by other means. Click on the specific BAC for more information.
There are no vacancies on various boards, authorities and commissions at this time that have applications through the Clerk of Commission. Please contact the Clerk of Commission Office for further questions 706-613-3031.
