Join Athens-Clarke County Solid Waste Department as we celebrate International Compost Awareness Week! For 2018, the US Composting Council is focused on building a better future. The events are sponsored locally by ACC Recycling Division, Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful, UGA Cooperative Extension and the State Botanical Garden of Georgia.
To help grow compost education, the Keep Athens-Clarke County Beautiful (KACCB) Board of Directors is donating a copy of The Great Compost Heap, by Renaee Smith, to local elementary schools.
As an active partner of the ACC Green Schools Program and leader of the Community Garden Network’s School Garden Committee, KACCB is an organization dedicated to empowering citizens and businesses with the resources necessary to take action as environmental stewards. As a local non-profit, KACCB raises money to support teachers in their efforts to educate our youth about litter and waste reduction, gardening and composting, and community beautification.
