Upcoming Works
An existing 8" water main on Hancock Ave is to be replaced with a 10" water main. The work will begin the week of February 19, 2018, and scheduled to be complete by mid-April 2018. The existing water main is approximately 100 years old.
The project is part of the SPLOST 2000 Downtown Infrastructure Project and is being performed in advance of a scheduled resurfacing of Hancock Ave. The work will not necessitate a street closure, but it will require lane closures. Once this work is finished, the replacement of the downtown water distribution system will be 100% completed.
In order to minimize inconvenience to the public, the first phase of work involves sawing the existing asphalt for the length of the project, extending from Pulaski Street to Hull Street along Hancock Avenue. The balance of the work necessary for this replacement involves asphalt excavation, water main replacement, and asphalt patching, which will be done in stages.
