The 44th Juried Exhibition is on view through May 3, 2019
This year’s show was selected by guest juror Ms. Lauren Haynes, the Curator of Contemporary Art at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Ms. Haynes visited Athens and the Lyndon House for two days in January to review Athens area artist submissions. In those two days, 309 artists entered 767 works of art. Ms. Haynes quelled through the multitude of works with great sensitivity and scrutiny, always remarking with great admiration, on the outstanding quality of the work whether from experienced professionals or those just starting to experiment with the visual arts. She has given us a concise group show of 160 works representing 130 local artists.
During the month of April, please join us on each Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. as a select group of artists will be providing gallery talks to talk about their work included in the show and to share their experience, ideas and practice.
The exhibition continues through May 3. All exhibitions are free and open to the public during regular gallery hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 9 PM, and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9 AM to 5 PM. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
