Pension Board

The Pension Board, in accordance with the Athens-Clarke County Code of Ordinances, administers the pension plan, which is a benefit offered by ACCGOV to provide the career employee with supplemental retirement income.  Members of the Pension Board include the following voting members:  Commissioner Mike Hamby, the Manager, Human Resources Director, Finance Director, two employees currently vested in the pension plan (one representing public safety and one representing general employees), and one retired employee who is drawing retirement benefits.  Ex Officio/Nonvoting Members include the Athens-Clarke County Attorney; Benefits and Wellness Administrator; and the Assistant Human Resources Director, who serves as secretary to the board.  

Meetings are held quarterly on the second Wednesday of February, May, August, and November at the Satula Avenue Training Room at 3:30 p.m.  

Pension Board meeting dates for 2019 are scheduled for the following dates:  February 27, May 8, August 14 (moved to City Hall Room 301), and November 13.  

Pension Board meeting dates for 2020 are scheduled for the following dates:  February 12, May 13, August 12, November 11

Announcements:  

Congratulations to Bobby M. Snipes, who was selected as Retiree Representative for the Pension Board.  Mr. Snipes was elected by popular vote of his retiree peers and will serve a 3-year term.  He takes the place of Johnny Fowler, who served on the Pension Board from 2008 to 2019.  Many thanks to Mr. Fowler for his service!
