REMINDER: Do Not Leave Pets in Vehicles During Summer

pets

As summer temperatures rise, please remember the dangers of leaving pets in cars:

  • On a 78-degree day, a car parked in the sun can reach 120 degrees in five minutes.
  • At this temperature, animals left inside a vehicle can suffer irreversible brain damage or collapse from heatstroke within minutes. Dogs can only cool themselves by panting and sweating through their paws. This is not possible with only hot air to breathe.
  • Opening windows or parking in the shade won’t prevent a dog from getting overheated.

Don’t take a chance. Leave pets at home on warm days even for short trips.
