The Lyndon House Arts Center will host the opening reception of the 45th Juried Exhibition on Thursday, March 5 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. The exhibition will be on view from March 5 through May 2, 2020.
This year’s show was selected by guest juror Mr. Larry Ossei-Mensah, Ossei-Mensah, a Ghanaian-American curator and cultural critic has organized exhibitions and programs at commercial and nonprofit spaces around the globe from New York City to Rome. He is newly appointed co-curator of the Athens Biennial.
Ms. Ossei-Mensah visited Athens and the Lyndon House for two days in January to review Athens area artist submissions. In those two days, 278 artists entered 711 works of art. Mr. Ossei-Mensah quelled through the multitude of works with sensitivity and intuition. He has given us a full and concise group show of 199 works representing 144 local artists. In addition, he selected 18 merit cash awards.
During the month of April, please join us on each Thursday evening at 6:00 p.m. as a select group of artists will be providing gallery talks to talk about their work included in the show and to share their experience, ideas and practice.
The exhibition continues through May 2, 2020. All exhibitions are free and open to the public during regular gallery hours: Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 9 PM, and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9 AM to 5 PM. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
