Throughout the year, the Athens-Clarke County community has come together to make a positive impact, whether through small group events, such as decaling storm drains, or large community service projects, such as Rivers Alive. ACC Stormwater is excited to kick off the new year with that same community spirit.
On January 18, 2016, join other community members at the Martin Luther King, Jr., Day of Service. ACC Stormwater is leading the Henderson Extension Cemetery site, which will allow us to beautify an abandoned cemetery and remove dumped trash and debris near Brooklyn Creek. Registration is now open: visit the Community Connection site and sign up today.
For now, here is what is happening in December:
Water Logged Geocache Trail
It is not Geography Awareness Week any more, but you can still take part in ACC Stormwater’s official Geocache trail, “Water Logged.” Enjoy the unseasonably warm weather and discover stormwater infrastructure, all the while exploring Athens-Clarke County. All you need is a cell phone with GPS and internet access. Geocache instructions, hints, and coordinates can be found at www.geocaching.com. Just search for the bookmark “Water Logged.”
Athens Farmers Market
Saturday, December 19, 9 a.m.–noon
Stop by and say hi at our booth at the Athens Farmers Market. Make a stormwater bracelet or pendant and learn how you can stop water pollution.
