Make Summer Safe...Learn to Swim


May is "Water Safety Awareness Month" and what better way to be safe than to learn how to swim.

The Leisure Services Department has limited openings remaining in its Swim School and Parent/Tot Swim School at Bishop Park.

Big Fish!


Come out and enjoy fun family fishing at Claypit Pond at Sandy Creek Nature Center. We provide bait, cane fishing poles, and tips. 

This program is set for Friday, May 13 from 6-7:30 PM and is for families (children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult). 

 The fee is $7 for ACC family, $10.50 for Non-ACC family.  Pre-registration is required. Register online for one person in the family and include a number of how many will attend when prompted.

Ware-Lyndon House invitation

How Does Your Garden Grow...


The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department will dedicate and open the newly constructed Interpretive Historic Garden at the Ware-Lyndon House on Wednesday, May 18 at 6:00 PM.  The public is invited to attend.

The newly constructed parterre style garden and front walk, funded by SPLOST 2011, will officially open to the public immediately following the dedication ceremony.  Activities are planned from 5:30 – 7:30 PM including tours of the garden, music, and refreshments.

The symmetrical garden includes four statues of the arts and muses, plantings designed in keeping with Southern period gardens of the era, a cistern for water conservation and garden seating for contemplation.

Fun in the Dirt...


Calling all little gardners for “Little Sprouts Garden Club.”

This program is for ages 2-5 with an adult is set for Tuesday, May 17 from 10-11:30 AM at Rocksprings Park.  Participants will dig in the dirt and learn about the food we eat and how it grows.   The fee is $5 for ACC residents and $7.50 for non-residents.

There is Still Room...


Don't panic, parents - there are still openings in summer camps!  

Limited slots remain in mini camps  including dance camps, skate camps, and sports camps.  There are openings in a few day camps, as well.
