Now Open!

The new boat launch at Ben Burton Park is now open to the public. The boat launch is designed for non-motorized small water craft and provides river access to the Middle Oconee River.

The launch was built with generous support from the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government, Riverview Foundation, Upper Oconee Watershed Network, and the Oconee Rivers Greenway Commission.  This concrete launch is designed to protect the stream bank and surrounding habitat from erosion and destruction and allows for a safe access point to the Middle Oconee River.

A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for Friday, June 3 at 11 AM.  The public is invited to attend.
