Halloween - So Much Fun It's Scary!


Halloween is almost here and the Leisure Services Department is ready!

A variety of activities are scheduled this week including  "Halloween with My Boo," "The Memorial Park Carnival and Boo at the Zoo," and  "Trunk or Treat."

Last Chance...Get in the Race!


This annual road race and one-mile fun run fundraiser benefits Sandy Creek Nature Center, Inc.  Prizes are awarded for top finishers in each age division for the race.

The one-mile fun run begins at 2 PM.  Race begins at 2:30 PM.  Registration forms are available at Sandy Creek Nature Center.  You may also register online at www.active.com. (through October 27).

Bah Humbug!


The Leisure Services Department presents Athens Creative Theatre's production of the timeless tale of Ebenezer Scrooge in “A Christmas Carol, The Muscial." a Broadway rendition.

With an infuriated "Bah! Humbug!" Scrooge summates his feelings of Christmas tidings and charitable giving, but he's forced to face his selfish ways.  

Show dates are Thursday, November 3 through Sunday, November 6.  Thursday, Friday, and Saturday shows are at 7:30 PM.  Special matinees are scheduled for Saturday at 2 PM and Sunday at 3 PM.  Ticket prices are  $15 adult, $12 students, children, and seniors (60+), $10 each for groups of 10 or more.  Tickets are now available online.

Save the Date...


Online winter program registration for Athens-Clarke County residents will open at 9 AM on Saturday, November 12. Assistance by phone will be available from 9-10 AM only by calling 706-613-3800.  Non-residents may register online starting Monday, November 14 at noon.

A diverse selection highlighting the arts, environmental science, recreation, sports, and holiday events are planned for adults and children.

Before registering, individuals, who have not already done so, must establish a free online account at www.athensclarkecounty.com/leisure.  Payment may be rendered using a debit card, Discover Card, MasterCard, Visa, or a MasterCard or Visa gift card. Registration will continue until programs are at full enrollment or they begin.

Individuals who wish to apply for an ACC Leisure Services Department scholarship must visit a Leisure Services Department facility office to apply for a scholarship or to renew an expired one, this must be done at least one full business week prior to registering for a program.   

Individuals who do not have access to a computer or smart phone may register online using the computer labs at East Athens Community Center at 400 McKinley Dr., Lay Park at 297 Hoyt St., or Rocksprings Park at 291 Henderson Ext. during regular hours or operation.

The Leisure Services Department has you covered with limited openings remaining in day out of school programs including Fantastic Fall Fever and Science Camp.  Online registration is required.
