Attempted Child Abduction


On Thursday, December 01, 2016, a subject attempted to pick up and walk away with a child in the area of North Hull Street and West Hancock Street in downtown Athens. This incident happened during the time of the downtown parade.

The subject is described as a white male, with reddish-brown hair and a scruffy beard, and is possibly in his 40's to 50's. He is described as about 5 feet and 8 inches in height and of average build. He was last seen wearing dark pants or blue jeans and a green, brown, or blue plaid flannel jacket and walking west on Hancock Avenue.

The Athens-Clarke County Police Department (ACCPD) is investigating this incident as a possible attempted kidnapping. The person depicted in this surveillance photo is a subject of interest and is wanted for questioning.
