Lyndon House 40th Juried Exhibition

You're Invited...

For the fortieth time, Lyndon House Arts Center presents the Juried Exhibition featuring exceptional original artwork created by local artists.

This annual professionally oriented competition was judged by Carter Foster, Curator of Drawing at the Whitney Museum of Art in New York.  He selected 194 art works for exhibition from the 852 works submitted to the competition by 330 artists. He also chose 7 Merit Awards and 13 Honorable Mentions which will be announced at the opening reception. The public is invited to the opening reception scheduled for Thursday, March 5 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Lyndon House Arts Center. 

The 40th Juried Exhibition will be on view from March 5 through May 2 during regular gallery hours: Tuesday & Thursday from noon until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, Friday, Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Athens Creative Theatre presents: Farce of Nature

Athens Creative Theatre presents  “ACT after Dark” at Quinn Hall.  Farce of Nature is a hilarious Southern-fried comedy highlighting one day in the life of the Wilburn family of Mayhew, Arkansas.

The performance takes place Thursday-Sunday, March 5-8 at Quinn Hall at Memorial Park located at 293 Gran Ellen Drive in Athens.  Show times are 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday with  a Sunday matinee at 3:00 p.m.

Tickets are $15 for adults; $12 for students, seniors, and children.  Tickets are now on sale by calling 706-613-3771. (Morton Box Office)
Bear Hollow zoo bear opening a gift

You Say It's Your Birthday, It's My Birthday, Too!

The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department will present a special birthday party for Bear Hollow Zoo’s resident bears Athena, DJ, and Yonah.  

Bear Hollow Zoo will host this special birthday celebration Saturday, March 7 from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. The bears’ cake and presents will be delivered at 1:30 p.m.

The community is invited to join this celebration and watch the bears unwrap their gifts and enjoy their cake.  A birthday card will be available to be signed by well-wishers, as well as crafts, and special birthday treats.  This program is free of charge.
