Trail Creek Park

Learn More...

The Leisure Services Department invites the public to review a proposed revision to the Trail Creek Park Master Plan.
Staff will host an open house review session on Thursday, September 14 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at East Athens Community Center.  Staff will be available to answer questions.

This revision makes a small adjustment to some of the undeveloped areas of the park, changing the planned location of park amenities in order to provide space for a pump track.  The pump track is associated with the existing mountain bike trails, and is in the same area as basketball courts and a pavilion with restrooms.  This grouping of park amenities is appealing to youth and facilitates opportunities for teen programs and activities.  The tennis court location is shifted to the other side of the park access road, providing access directly from the parking area.  The proposed update is available online.  Please review and submit comments.

Pickets

Picket it Up!

The Department continues the “Picket Up” program for the retrieval of the fence pickets from the former World of Wonder Playground (WOW).

As part of the fundraising efforts for the former WOW Playground, between 2002 and 2004, individuals could purchase pickets for the fence that surrounded the play area. Approximately 100 pickets have been saved from the demolition of the old playground.  These pickets, with donor names on them, are stored at the Department’s Park Services Division office until December 31, 2017.

Anyone who wishes to claim his/her picket should contact Keith Kirkland at parkmaintenance@athensclarkecounty.com or call 706-613-3801, ext. 25.  After December 31, 2017, staff will dispose of all remaining pickets.

For more information, please 706-613-3801, ext. 25.
