The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department will host an open house regarding plans to revise Southeast Clarke Park’s master plan

The public is encouraged to attend the open house scheduled for Monday, November 27 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Athens-Clarke County Tennis Center.

Citizens who are unable to attend the review sessions may take advantage of the input opportunity available online beginning Monday, November 27.

What a Parade!

The annual Athens-Clarke County Downtown Parade of Lights is scheduled for Thursday, December 7 starting at 7:00 p.m.

This year’s theme is “Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree.” Performing units will be judged during the parade itself.  Entries will compete for such prizes as “Most Original Float,” “Best Use of Theme,” and “Best Use of Lights.”  The best overall float will receive the “Mayor’s Award.”  
The parade begins on the corner of Hancock Avenue and Pulaski Street and ends in front of City Hall for the traditional tree lighting ceremony, hosted by none other than Santa Claus himself.  The parade route map is available at .
The Athens-Clarke County Downtown Parade of Lights is sponsored by the Athens-Clarke County Unified Government and the Athens Downtown Development Authority.

Deck the Hollow

All Lit Up!

The annual “Deck the Hollow” Holiday Lights at Bear Hollow Zoo at Memorial Park is set for December 7-10 and 14-17, 2017.  This event takes place nightly from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.

The community is invited to celebrate the holidays in lights.  Activities include live music, animal encounters and photo opportunities in the zoo illuminated with holiday lights.  Concessions are available for purchase. 

Admission fee is $3 per person, children ages two and under are admitted free of charge.  Registration is not required.

Breakfast with the Grinch

Tis the Season!

The Leisure Services Department has holiday activities for elves of all sizes.

It's the most important meal of the day!  Plan on dining with a special guest at Breakfast with Santa at Memorial Parkor Breakfast with Santa at Sandy Creek Nature Center or Breakfast with the Grinch at Rocksprings Park.

A variety of other holiday events are planned, as well, including Family Night at Santa's WorkshopHoliday Open House, as well as 'Tis the Season Holiday Luncheon Cruise.  A fun selection of mini camps will keep kids busy during the holiday break.
