Make a Splash!

The splash pad at Trail Creek Park (formerly East Athens Community Park) will open under its pre-season hours on Saturday, May 2 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.  The fee is $1 per person.

The splash pad, located at 200 Trail Creek St, will be open weekends only, May 2-May 24.  

Regular seasonal hours will begin May 24 and continue through August 9: Tuesdays-Sundays from 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.  The splash pad is closed on Mondays for maintenance.

The splash pad at Rocksprings Park, located at 291 Henderson Ext, will open for the season May 24.

A Blooming Good Exhibit

Summer: An Exhibition, presented by the Ladies' Garden Club, is currently on exhibit through May 21 at Lyndon House Arts Center.  

The first formal garden club in America, the Ladies' Garden Club of Athens is presenting this exhibition in recognition of its 125th year. 

Original works by Annie Laurie Dodd, members of the Athens Art Association and Athens Area Porcelain Artists will be on display.

The exhibit is on view during regular gallery hours: Tuesday & Thursday from noon until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, Friday, Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The show is free and open to the public.

Join Us!

The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department will present a Birds, Bears, & Bagels program at Bear Hollow Zoo at Memorial Park on Saturday, May 9 at 7:30 a.m. 

Zoo staff will lead a beginner level bird walk around the zoo and Birchmore Trail.  Participants will work up an appetite searching for birds and finish in the zoo – just in time to let the bears into their exhibit for the day.  Participants will have bagel breakfast treats and even prepare a few for the bears, as well.  Everyone should bring binoculars and a bird book if you have them.

The fee is $2 for ACC residents and $3 for non-residents. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Countdown to Summer!


It's not too late to register for a Leisure Services Department summer camp.
Art Camps, Skate Camp, Soccer Camp, and Tennis Camps still have limited openings.  Parkview and Rocksprings Summer Day Camps have availabilities, as well.

Get Healthy This Summer! 
ACC Leisure Services, Athens Regional Health System, and the University of Georgia Extension-Clarke County are partnering once again to provide Health Matters Camp.  The special summer program promotes physical activity and good nutrition among young teens who are at risk for health problems.  

The program serves ages 9-14 and takes place Monday-Friday, June 1-July 31 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. (no camp June 29-July 3).  Campers must register for all eight weeks of camp.

The fee is $240 for eight weeks/camper ACC Resident (eligible for scholarship); $480 for eight weeks/camper Non-resident (not eligible for scholarship; plus an $80 materials fee for eight weeks/camper (not eligible for scholarship).
