Making the Grade!

The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department continues a special summer program celebrating students with good grades - the Report Cards Rewards Program.

In order to be eligible, any student, Kindergarten through 12th grade, who resides in Athens-Clarke County must take a copy of his/her final report card or equivalent to the ACC Aquatics Office at Bishop Park, Monday-Friday: 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

A report card with all A's or all E's guarantees a free summer pool pass. A report card with all A's and B's, or all E's and M's, is good for 10 free swims,

Dive In!

Get ready to stay cool this summer at the pools!
All Department pools open Memorial Day Weekend for the summer.  Pools are open Tuesday-Friday and Sunday from 1:00 - 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 5:30 p.m.. All aquatics facilities are closed Mondays for maintenance.

The Bishop Park Pool is open weekends, only. 

Pool admission is $1 per person.  Pool passes are available for purchase at all pools and splash pads.

Getting Fit at the Pool...

The Department offers special fitness programs at the pools this summer.  Get in shape and have fun!
Aqua Aerobics” take place at the Memorial Park Pool from May 26 to - August 8 on Tuesday, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Participants may register prior to the start of the class. The fee is $5 per person per session or a five-class punch card is available for $20.  

“Aqua Zumba” takes place Saturday mornings from 10:30-11:15 a.m. at the Bishop Park Pool. Check the website for start dates.  Participants may register prior to the start of the class.  The fee is $5 per person, per class.  

“Adult Lap Swim,” is offered at the Bishop Park Pool. Registration continues at Bishop Park, Monday-Friday 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.  Adults will have the opportunity to swim laps in the Olympic-sized pool with a certified lifeguard on duty.  The program takes place Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6:30 a.m to 7:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The fee is $55 for ACC residents and $83 for non-county residents.

The Department will host a public input session regarding the Tallassee Tract Master Plan on Thursday, May 28 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. at the Athens-Clarke County Planning Department Auditorium at 120 W. Dougherty St.

The meeting will include a brief presentation about the planning process to date, and an overview of conceptual alternatives for the park’s design. The public will be invited to give their feedback on the alternative designs, which will be used to develop a preliminary concept for the park to be presented to for public input later this year.
