Instructor teaching participants in aqua aerobics

Get in Shape at the Pool!

Do your joints squeak or groan when you exercise?  Would you like greater freedom of movement and mobility without the impact of traditional aerobics?  Then aquatic aerobics is for you!

Aquatic Aerobics are one-hour, low impact exercise sessions taught at the Memorial Parkswimming pool this summer. Participants will experience a variety of stretching, limbering and weight routines set to music.

This summer workout program takes place every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 am. through August 4. The fee is $5 per person per session or a five-class punch card is available for $20.  No pre-registration is necessary. Simply sign-in at the pool each class you attend and pay the registration fee. Cash or checks are accepted, but we do not have the ability to accept credit cards at the pool house.

Sculpted metal bowl on pedestal

Five years ago, the Athens Metal Arts Guild (AMAG) was established with a mission to provide education, promote public awareness, and develop interest in the metal arts. The Lyndon House Arts Center celebrates the accomplishments of the guild members, who range from nationally known professional metal and jewelry artists to skilled and creative hobbyists, with an exhibition this summer.  The exhibition represents a varied spectrum of work that its members create, utilizing a wide range of metal and jewelry techniques, including forging, casting, enameling, and keum-boo.

AMAG meets at the Lyndon House Arts Center every other month, featuring speakers or demonstrations, and has an extensive bimonthly newsletter for members with metalsmithing-related news, ideas, and exhibition opportunities. It is one of only two such metal arts guilds in Georgia.

All exhibitions are free and open to the public during regular gallery hours of Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 9:00 p.m., and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
