ACC Leisure Services Department

100 Years

To mark the centennial of the end of World War I, the Lyndon House Arts Center will present WWI Landscape paintings by local artist, John Cleaveland.

Over a three-year period, John Cleaveland traveled to France and photographed current day sites of WWI battles. Upon returning to his studio in Farmington, Georgia, the artist translated his photographs into rich oil paintings. The stunning images that result from Cleaveland’s explorations depict tranquil vistas that belie their tormented histories. This exhibit is accompanied by a brochure featuring written works by Michael Kemmling, Chris McDonald, and Ian McHenry.

The exhibition is on display September 11 - November 9, 2018 during regular gallery hours of Tuesdays and Thursdays from noon to 9:00 p.m., and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  All exhibitions are free of charge.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  An opening reception is scheduled for Thursday, September 13, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
