House Party

Party!

The Lyndon House Arts Center (LHAC) and Lyndon House Arts Foundation (LHAF) will present HOUSE PARTY on Saturday, October 20 from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the LHAC. HOUSE PARTY is a fundraising event to support innovative art and arts education programming.

The event includes an afternoon concert featuring local bands Dixieland 5, Ecudadorain-Niacaraguan singer/songwriter Sarah Zúñiga, Lucky Jones, DJ Mahogany, and Pylon Reeanctment Society.

All seven studios will be open for touring while Open Studio Members and Teaching Artists demonstrate and display art in techniques ranging from painting to printmaking, and ceramics to jewelry.

All day long, local brewers will serve beer made in Athens. Brewers include Akademia, Creature Comforts, and Southern Brewing Company.  Food trucks, including Damunchiezz, King of Pops, and Manila Express will be onsite as well.

All attendees are invited to make red poppies out of a variety of art materials to be included in a garland of flowers in the atrium gallery.  As the event continues throughout the day, the poppy chain will grow. Moina Michael, an Athens resident known as The Poppy Lady, introduced red poppies as a symbol of remembrance during WWI.

All proceeds of the day goes to supporting the growth and reach of art and education programs presented at LHAC.

LHAF is an independent nonprofit that provides funding and resources to support the innovation, reach, and diversity of the Lyndon House Arts Center.  For more information, please visit lyndonhouseartsfoundation.com.
