One Last Splash...


The Trail Creek Park Splash Pad, located at 200 Trail Creek St, will operate under its end of season hours and remain open, weekends only, August 9 through Labor Day, September 7 from 10 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Admission is $1 per person.

All Department pools, located at Bishop Park, East Athens Community Center, Lay Park, Memorial Park, and Rocksprings Park will close for the season on Sunday, August 9 at 5:30 p.m.  The Rocksprings Park Splash Pad will close for the season, as well.

Fall registration continues across the Department for adult and youth programs.

Registration takes place at the facility where the program occurs, unless otherwise indicated.

Under the Moon...


Sandy Creek Park will hold its popular Friday Night Paddles this month, August 7 and 21 from 8:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Spend a quiet evening paddling around beautiful Lake Chapman. Participants may use a boat provided  or bring their own (canoes and kayaks, only).

The fee is $8 for ACC Resident or  $12 Non-resident per session. Registration is required by calling 706-613-3631. Payment is due at the time of registration.

A Little Big of Sugar...


Athens Creative Theatre will hold auditions for its upcoming production of “Mary Poppins” for ages eight and older. Roles are available for children, teens, adults, and seniors.  Auditions will take place Monday, August 10 and Tuesday, August 11 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Quinn Hall at Memorial Park 

Those individuals auditioning should come with 16-bars of a prepared solo from any Broadway musical and bring sheet music for piano accompaniment. 

The production is scheduled November 12-15 at the Morton Theatre in downtown Athens.
