Women in Science

Ladies First!

Join Sandy Creek Nature Center and strong, intelligent women in the local community as we inspire, encourage, and open the eyes of everyone that women can excel in science.

We are excited to work with various organizations around Clarke County to provide a free experience to highlight women in various forms of science working in the community.

"Women in Science Open House" is scheduled for Saturday, March 30 from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.  The event is free of charge.

Zen in the Park

Zen in the Park

Join us Thursdays in April and May for a lunch time session of Tai Chi Easy™ in Dudley Park. Classes are led each week by instructor Tom Wittenberg and include self-applied massage, intentional breathing, meditation, and flowing movements.

By practicing Tai Chi Easy™ on a regular basis, one can expect a lower heart rate, better balance, strengthened immune function, reduced stress, and improved sleep. Everyone should wear loose fitting clothing that allow freedom of movement.

This program has eight sessions: Thursdays, April 4 through May 23 from 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. in Dudley Park.   The fee is $4 per session for ACC residents and $6 for non-residents.  Online registration is required.
