The Leisure Services Department is seeking input through a community needs assessment as part of the “ACC Leisure Services 2030”project, which is the ten year plan for the future of the department.

The Leisure Services Department has partnered with the Carl Vinson Institute of Government to implement the survey.  Community input and guidance is essential for the development of this important document, which will shape the future of Athens parks, programs, and facilities.

The Community Needs Assessment is currently underway at  This survey is designed to identify high level needs and service gaps in the parks, programs, and facilities associated with Leisure Services.  Each household that completes the survey will receive two one-day passes to a Leisure Services Aquatics facility or two one-day passes to Sandy Creek Park.  The survey will be open until midnight on Sunday, July 14, 2019. The survey is available in English and Spanish, and is mobile responsive.  Residents who do not have access to a smart phone are invited to use the public computer labs at East Athens Community Center, Lay Park, and Rocksprings Park.

As part of community outreach efforts, staff will be on hand at a variety of events throughout the community.  For full calendar and more information about the project, please visit
