Fall Registration

Think Fall!

The Leisure Services Department announces its fall program opportunities for 2019.

A diverse selection highlighting the arts, environmental science, recreation, sports, and holiday events are planned for adults and children.

Online program registration for Athens-Clarke County residents will open at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 3.  Non-residents may register online starting Monday, August 5 at noon.  Before registering, individuals who have not already done so must establish a free online account at  Payment may be rendered using an American Express, debit card, Discover Card, MasterCard, Visa, or a MasterCard or Visa gift card. Registration will continue until programs are at full enrollment or they begin.

Individuals who already have an online account and received or renewed a Leisure Services Department scholarship since July 1, 2019, may use the scholarship when registering online.  

New scholarship applicants and individuals with expired scholarships must visit a Leisure Services Department facility office to apply for a scholarship or to renew an expired one at least five business days prior to registering for a program.  Scholarships may not be applied for online.  Information regarding scholarship program changes, including required documentation, is available at

Individuals who do not have access to a computer or smart phone may register online using the computer labs at East Athens Community Center at 400 McKinley Dr., Lay Park at 297 Hoyt St., or Rocksprings Park at 291 Henderson Ext. during regular hours of operation.

One Last Splash...

The Leisure Services Department announces its end of summer aquatics season.

All Department pools, located at Bishop Park, East Athens Community Center, Lay Park, Memorial Park, and Rocksprings Park will close for the season on Sunday, August 4 at 5:30 p.m.  The Rocksprings Park Splash Pad will close for the season, as well.
The Trail Creek Park Splash Pad, located at 200 Trail Creek St, will remain open, weekends only, August 3 through Labor Day, September 2 from 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Admission is $1 per person.

Back to School!

It's time to get ready for the new school year.

Lay Park and the University of Georgia Athletic Association are coming together to provide supplies for students enrolled in Kindergarten through Fifth Grade. This special event is scheduled for Friday, August 2 from 5:00 - 8:30 p.m. at Lay Park.

Giveaways will include Nike book bags, water bottles, and t-shirts. Activities will feature inflatables and face painting.

Supplies are limited.  Pre-registration is required.

Purrfectly Zen...

The Leisure Services Department will present “Kitty Yoga” Tuesdays, August 6, 13, 20, and 27 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Park.

The community is invited for a purrfectly zen experience. The fee is an hour of kitties and yoga! Bring your own mat or rent one for $2! The group will assemble in the park’s recreation hall. All ages and skill levels welcome.

Attendees will register onsite. The class fee is a $5 donation. All proceeds benefit Circle of Friends Animal Society.

Batter Up!

The Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services Department continues online registration for the adult softball program.  

The program is open to churchco-ed, and men’s/open teams.  The season begins August 12th. All games are played at Bishop Park and Southeast Clarke Park. Games take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights from 6:30 and  9:30 p.m. The fee is $400 per team.
