Art!

The Lyndon House Arts Center will host the sixth annual Lickskillet Artists Market & Festival on Saturday, October 24 from 10 AM-5 PM.  

The popular event features the work of more than 60 local artists along with a variety of indoor/outdoor activities for all ages, artist demonstrations, food vendors, kid activities, live music and tours of the Ware-Lyndon Historic House Museum.

School's Out!

The Leisure Services Department will present Day off School programs during the Clarke County School District’s Fall Break.  Programs are set for Friday, October 30 and Monday, November 2 from 9 AM-4 PM and are for children ages 6-12. 

“Science Camp” at East Athens Community Center, will explore the mysteries of science through projects and experiments.  The fee is $30 for Athens-Clarke County residents and $45 non-residents for the two-day program.  For details call 706-613-3593.

“Howlin’ Cool Day off School” will include Halloween fun all day long.  Participants will create Halloween adventure with crafts, games, and a best costume contest. This program will take place Friday, October 30 at Rocksprings Park . The fee is $15 for ACC residents and $23 for non-residents. For more information call 706-613-3602.

Pre-registration is required and is accepted at the facility where the program is taking place, Monday-Friday from 9 AM – 6 PM.  Space is limited.  All participants must bring a sack lunch.

Nature!

The Leisure Services Department will host “Babies and Beasties” this fall at Sandy Creek Nature Center. 

Toddlers and their parents are invited to discover nature through this special Nature Center activity including crafts, hands-on activities, hikes, and outdoor adventures. Babies and Beasties takes place Thursdays, November 5, 12, and 19 from 10-10:45 AM. 

This program is for ages 18 months to 2 years with an adult.  Pre-registration is required by Wednesday, November 4 by calling 706-613-3615.   The fee is $12 for Athens-Clarke County residents and $18 for Non-resident family fee for the series.

A Spoon Full of Sugar...

 The Leisure Services Department presents Athens Creative Theatre's production of the family favorite “Disney & Cameron McIntosh’s Mary Poppins” at the Morton Theatre.

The enchanting mixture of story, song, and dance will celebrate the iconic Disney movie adapted for the stage. Boasting a cast and crew of over 97 incredibly talented performers ranging from ages 7 to 70+, accompanied by a 14 piece live pit orchestra, Mary Poppins will have audience members singing in their seats with familiar tunes such as “Practically Perfect," “Step In Time,” and “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!" 

The performance takes place at the Morton Theatre on Thursday, November 12-Sunday, November 15.  Thursday and Friday shows are at 7:30 PM., Saturday at 2 PM and 7:30 PM  with Sunday’s performance at 3 PM.

Tickets are now on sale at the Morton Theatre Box Office, Monday-Friday from 10 AM – 1 PM and 3 – 6 PM. Call 706-613-3771 to reach the box office.  Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for children, seniors, and students. Groups of 10 or more, tickets are $10 each.
